PPSMI : Pros & Cons

bismillahirrahmanirrahim..

And if you ask me about this matter, I'd prefer you to evaluate my opinions below first and then, you could find my stance.

PROs of PPSMI
1. WASTING MONEY. Abolishing PPSMI is a great way of the government to waste more the people's money. Converting all the English-based Maths and Sciences text books into Bahasa Malaysia needs more and more and more money to be spent.

2. INCOMPETENCY. When students NOWADAYS are not using English as their medium of learning the things that the world learn (which definitely using English medium), they could not compete with the world that uses more common terms used worldwide. YES! PPSMI could be abolished for now, but till when?? Shouldn't the government prepare the students to be competent and more familiar with what the world familiar of?? Isn't that the students in higher institutions using English-based text book as their references?

3. Lets say PPSMI has been abolished. Then, how about the English teachers that have to agree with the government saying that they will 'import' some 'original teachers' from regions that uses English as their mother tongue? That's not it. WHAT ABOUT THE STUDENTS?? Can they cope with the 'original English' from these 'original teachers'? Can they understand, and if not, who are going to translate some difficult words in Malays??

4. IT'S A CHALLENGE. Since Malaysia possessed the 'merdeka' in 1957, the people faced too many a challenge that made them improve and proved to the world that 'Malaysia Boleh'. They are many sayings that PPSMI will suffocate the young children, especially the outskirts regions, with those English words that they are not familiar with. Wake up GUYS!! We are facing the new world with new challenges and English in crucial subjects are vitally important.

KONTRA DALAM PPSMI.

1. MENCIPTA JENAMA MALAYSIA. Ramai juga yang mengatakan, ' KENAPA KITA PERLU AGUNG2KAN SANGAT BAHASA PENJAJAH? CUBA TENGOK JEPUN. MAJU JE NEGARA DIORANG GUNA BAHASA SENDIRI..."

2. MBMMBI.

3. PELAJAR SUSAH BELAJAR. Kebiasaannya kita menggunakan bahasa ibunda ketika belajar. Jadi kalau bertukar bahasa perantaraan, maka susahlah nak memahami pelajaran tersebut.

Maka, APAKAH PANDANGAN ANDA???

wallahu a'alam.

I take it that you agree with PPSMI. YEAP. me too.

Just sharing a thought, when we were form 5, the govt called student representatives from various school and from a fren that went, she told us that even kids in Sabah and Sarawak wants PPSMI to resume. Yes, they admit it was hard but they were willing to put extra effort. Even their illiterate parents agreed for PPSMI cos they might me buta huruf, but not ignorant towards the global need- English.

SO yeah. Tho we complain much, the govt still have the final say. Bummer. Wait until we are the ones yg buat policy la ;)
